Free Family Movie on the Manassas Museum Lawn

Family movie

Get ready for another installment of Movie on the Manassas Museum Lawn. After successful events in previous years, the Baldwin Elementary PTO organized this event to give families a chance to enjoy an evening out.

When and Where

As the name implies, the 2018 Movie on the Manassas Museum Lawn will be on the Manassas Museum Lawn. The planned date is Friday, May 18, with a rain date of Friday, June 1. The movie night starts at 6 p.m. and is scheduled until 10 p.m. The event is completely free thanks to sponsors like Miller Toyota.

More Than the Movie

In addition to the movie itself, the evening will include games and food to enjoy before the movie begins. Then, the show will officially start at dusk, giving you the chance to sit back and relax on lawn chairs or picnic blankets while munching on popcorn.

Who Will Be There

The Baldwin Elementary School PTO invited all the five elementary schools and both intermediate schools in the Manassas City Public School System to the 2018 Movie on the Manassas Museum Lawn. In the past, between students, their families, and the community, the events brought in between 400 and 500 people, so expect a crowd.

What It Supports

Although the event is free to attend, it’s also a chance for Baldwin Elementary School’s PTO to fundraise for the 650 students in pre-kindergarten through fourth grades. Because 60 percent of students at Baldwin meet requirements for reduced or free meals, it’s a Title 1 school. The Baldwin PTO hopes to raise enough money this year to start growing a Family Engagement Program. It provides educational field trips and outdoor learning areas to enrich the students’ education. As of late March, the PTO had already raised $6,000 toward this goal, but PTO members want to raise at least double that amount.

Visit the Manassas Museum

You should also consider visiting the Manassas Museum at some point if you have not been recently. Since it’s open every day of the week except Monday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (and every day in the summer), you can head there in the afternoon, go out for dinner nearby with the family, then head to the Movie on the Manassas Museum Lawn. Museum entry is free, so there’s no reason not to visit the 7,000-square-foot building. Check out the temporary and permanent historical exhibits that look at the history of the Northern Virginia Piedmont area via images, artifacts, and documents, plus two exhibit videos.

Miller Toyota is a proud sponsor of this year’s Movie on the Manassas Museum Lawn. We can’t wait to see you there enjoying this movie with other members of the Manassas, Virginia, community.
