Climb Virginia at Vertical Rock

Indoor Climbing

Rock climbing in Virginia isn’t limited to outdoor adventures. Vertical Rock offers indoor rock climbing of various types and for all skill levels. You can even host a party there or participate in something other than rock climbing, like yoga to relax afterward.

Rates

If you need some rock-climbing gear while at Vertical Rock, you can rent a harness for $6, shoes for $6, a belay device for $3, a chalk bag for $2, or all that gear for $13. Day passes are $22, with discount rates of $17 for military personnel and $16 for college students. Or get a seven-visit punch pass for $129 to save some money. If you’re just belaying and come with a child under age 12, you can get in for free.

Consider a Party

If you have an active group of friends, consider having your birthday party at Vertical Rock. You get 45 minutes in the party room, all the essential safety gear, and a host plus instructors.

Options for New Climbers

For those who have not rock climbed before, Vertical Rock has you covered. There are specific days for open climbs where the Vertical Rock team gets you set up and belays you. For $20, you get three climbs, which includes the harness and belayer. Each extra climb costs $5, and you can add on bouldering for $7. The Learn the Ropes Intro Course costs $35 and is offered regularly to teach you everything you need to know about climbing, including giving you the skills to pass the belay certification test so you can climb by yourself instead of just in open climbs. You only need to be 13 years old to take the class.

Other Classes and Activities

In addition to rock climbing, Vertical Rock has yoga classes, an Advanced Lead Climbing Class, a Learn to Sport Lead class, a Functional Movement class, and a 45-minute Rocky Ready training session. Many of these are included in day passes. You can also take your kids to the youth climbing classes or sign them up for a summer camp, with both indoor and outdoor options.
