Fuel economy in the 4-cylinder Camry is 25 mpg city and 35 mpg highway*. The V6 engine gets 21 mpg city and 31 mpg highway*. The Avalon gets identical fuel economy with the V6 engine. Essentially, either Toyota is great if you want the V6 engine, but if you want the 4-cylinder, you need to choose the Camry.

Camry vs. Avalon Standard Features and Pricing

If you compare all of the available features in the 2016 Camry and 2016 Avalon, the list is nearly identical. That being said, the Avalon comes with more as standard. Because of this and its more powerful base engine, it starts at $32,650**. Meanwhile, the Camry starts at just $23,070**. You can, however, start adding features to the Camry with minimal upgrades. You should also keep in mind that if you want the Toyota Camry with the V6 engine, you will need to get the XSE or XLE trims, which are the higher options.
