Interior Review of the 2023 Toyota Tundra

First-generation pickups were for worksites. The modern pickup truck, however, now includes many creature comforts for up to five passengers.

The 2023 Tundra Limited, for example, features SofTex® seats with lumbar support. The driver and front passenger seats are both heated and ventilated. The steering wheel and shifter knob are in leather. A 14-inch multimedia touchscreen with a nine-speaker sound system also starts with the Limited.

Beginning with the Platinum, both front and rear seats are leather-trimmed, heated, and ventilated. The Platinum gets a JBL sound system with a subwoofer and amplifier as an upgrade. The 1794 Edition stands apart with American walnut interiors, as well as trim-specific badging and floor mats.

The leg room for the Double Cab is 41.2 inches up front and 33.3 inches at the back, while the CrewMax is roomier with 41.6 inches for the second row.

Exterior Review of the 2023 Toyota Tundra

The 2023 Tundra's exteriors are for both form and function. Ground clearance starts at 8.5 inches for the hybrid, while the gas variants are higher at 9.3 inches. Urban potholes or rocky riverbeds become minor inconveniences.

Approach and departure angles are 21 and 24 degrees and get a significant bump with the TRD Pro at 26.2 and 24.2 degrees. The big front grills channel a lot of air for cooling, while the wide, muscular fenders are a reminder of the vehicle’s stability in challenging terrain.

Power and Performance of the 2023 Toyota Tundra

Shared across the line-up are three 3.4-liter twin-turbo V6 engines. The lower trims produce 358 horsepower at 5,200 rpm and 406 pound-feet of torque at 2000 rpm. The middle and upper trims get the same engine but with a 389 horsepower boost at 5,200 rpm and 479 pound-feet of torque at 2,400 rpm.

The hybrid versions get an electric motor aside from the V6 for a combined 437 horsepower at 5,200 rpm and 583 pound-feet of torque at 2,400 rpm.

The result is a maximum towing capacity of 12,000 pounds and a payload of between 1,485 pounds to 1,940 pounds.
