Bring Summer Camp Fun To Your Home

Family painting a white sheet in the yardNow that school is about to let out, you are in charge of keeping the kids entertained for the next couple of months. While many resort to summer camps or weekly playdates, overnight stays and visits to various entertainment centers usually cost a pretty penny. And on the other hand, the best place for your kiddos to be is home, so why not have summer camp activities at the house for the kids to enjoy? Check out these tips for planning the ultimate DIY at-home summer camp staycation.

Have a Special Breakfast

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, right? Although, the same old yogurt cup or bowl of cereal becomes quite bland over time. The kids are sure to feel like they’re on a special getaway with a superior meal. So, consider making their foods look like critter friends by trying recipes like the butterfly roti sandwich or scrambled egg pasta. You might even be able to sneak in a helping of fruits and veggies, or two.

Art Class

If your little one has an artistic side, a little mess never hurts anybody. Whether they want to paint with brushes, surprise mom with something fresh to display on the fridge, or even use their hands to make butterflies, you will cherish these masterpieces for years to come.

Get Physical

While school is no longer in session, that usually means recreational sports are put on pause for summer break as well. Get creative by setting up stations of games and obstacle courses. When everything is assembled, number the stations and set a timer. Have the kids move to each station and compete with their friends. Ready, set, go!

Try an Experiment

The all-famous science camp can be brought to the humble abode. You would be surprised at what you can whip up with some ingredients already in your pantry, whether that’s a magical pepper and soap experiment or a playdough volcano.
