The Toyota Avalon was introduced in February 1994 at the Chicago Auto Show as a 1995 year model vehicle. The Avalon’s name is taken from the legendary island from Arthurian legends, and shares Toyota’s tradition of naming its sedans for things associated with royalty (Crown, Corona, Camry, Corolla, Tiara, and Scepter also being in the Toyota sedan family).
